How do I register for a library card?

Answer

Any resident of Allegheny County can register for a library card online.

Residents under the age of 18 will be issued a temporary card which will expire after 30 days. You can also come to any open CLP location with valid ID to register for a new card curbside or receive a physical library card.

If you have a smartphone, tablet, or computer, your library card provides access to free content 24/7. You can access several popular services that allow you to stream online or use apps on your smartphone to stream and/or download eAudioBooks, eBooks, magazines, TV shows, comics, movies and music. You can visit our eResources page to get started and find helpful tutorials at the bottom of our Stream & Download page.

We also invite you to explore our lineup of virtual activities and services.
