You can access General OneFile several ways depending on your point of access.  A direct link to the database through the CLP site is https://www.einetwork.net/ein/powerlib.php?link=ITOF.  If you are on the CLP network, you will be taken directly to OneFile.  For those accessing off network, you will be taken to the log in for the PA. Power Library e-resources page.  Methods of access are described below.

To locate the database from our website: 

1. Navigate to carnegielibrary.org.

2. On the menu bar at the top, click "Research".

3. In the grey "Find Resources" box, set the "Subject" field to "Articles" and enter "General OneFile" into the "Keywords" field.

4. Click the purple "Find" button.

You will be presented with 2 links.  One for Gale General OneFile and one for the PA Power Library.  If you are accessing the database from a computer at a CLP location, or on the VPN, the General OneFile link will take you directly to the resource.  From a computer off of the CLP network, either link will take you to the lo in page for the PA Power Library.

The PA Power Library provides access to General OneFile to any Pennsylvania resident with a card/eCard from any participating PA. library.  This means you can help almost anybody in Pennsylvania to access the periodicals!

Accessing Gale General OneFile from the PA Power Library:

1. Navigate to https://powerlibrary.org/.

2. On the top menu bar, under "Find e-resources", click "List all e-resources".

3. On the e-resources page, scroll down to find and click "General OneFile".

4. Enter your eCard or library card number and click "Submit".

You are now logged into Gale General OneFile.

Searching for a Publication in Gale General OneFile:

1. Once logged in, click "Advanced Search".

2. Under "SEARCH OPTIONS", click "Publication Search".

3. On the "Publication Search" page, search for title of the periodical you are seeking.  There is also an option above the search text field to list all publications.

The articles are not in magazine format, but the photos are included.  The archives for each title vary and not all archives have the current issues.  Each article has options to translate, adjust font size, and to listen.  Download and sharing options are also available.
