How do I find newspaper articles?

Answer

If you have a library card issued by the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, you can access newspaper articles from these databases, which are alphabetically listed on the library's Research page

  • 19th Century U.S. Newspapers
  • Pittsburgh Courier (1911-2002)
  • Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Archive (1786-2003)
  • Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Digital Microfilm (2009-present, with a 3-month delay.)
  • Wall Street Journal Digital Microfilm (2003-present, with a 3-month embargo.)

If you have a library card issued by Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh or an Allegheny County public library, you can access newspaper articles from these databases on the library's Research page:

  • InfoTrac Newsstand
  • Newspaper Archive
  • Pittsburgh Jewish Newspaper Project

The Library of Congress also offers a great newspaper resource: Chronicling America Historic American Newspapers
