Where can I get Rental Assistance?

Listed below are several organizations you can reach out to in order to receive rental and housing assistance. Besides help with paying rent, certain organizations listed below may help with utility assistance, legal help for renters, shelters and housing for those experiencing homelessness, and resources to support LGBTQIA+ youth. 

 

RentHelpPGH

 

  • What they do: RentHelpPGH assists residents of Allegheny County in obtaining legal and financial assistance in order to avoid eviction.

Neighborhood Legal Services

  • What they do: Help resolve legal problems for low-income and vulnerable residents by providing legal aid and information on landlord-tenant disputes, wrongful eviction, tangled titles, public or subsidized housing denials and utility or security deposit issues.
  • Where they work: Allegheny, Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties

  • What they do: Searchable listings of over 3,000 listings including emergency shelters, homeless shelters, day shelters, transitional housing, shared housing, residential drug alcohol rehabilitation programs and permanent affordable housing.

Proud Haven LGBTQ Youth Drop-In Center

  • What they do: A safe and supportive drop-in center for LGBTQIA+ youth (ages 18-25)  experiencing homelessness in Pittsburgh, offering meals, emotional support and resources to help develop the skills needed to live independently.

Community Human Services

Provides a continuum of housing services, including short- and long-term rental assistance and supportive housing programs for homeless adults and families.

Neighborhood  Resilience Project

Many of our neighbors need an extra hand with rent, utilities or a security deposit. This assistance provides a steppingstone for participants to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
